Jane has been teaching Pilates since 2006. She meets each client where they are in their wellness journey. Whether recovering from a surgery or injury, novice or experienced in their practice, she welcomes all levels of fitness. Her focus is on education to maintain healthy postures, movements and alignment throughout activities of daily living. This involves working on functional movement for joint, tissue and mental health. Mindful exercise brings enhanced body awareness which can help build and maintain balance, strength and endurance through aging. All bodies need continual grace, attention and care.
Jane has been practicing yoga since her early 20's. She began her practice with an Ashtanga teacher and fell in love with the calm and focus it brought to her body, mind and soul. Over the years she's tried many classes and lineages of yoga, taking in the wisdom and discipline of the various approaches and styles practiced. In 2018 she wanted to deepen her practice and enrolled in a 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training which had a profound personal impact. Through routine meditation, a disciplined practice, and learning ways to cultivate spiritual connection, she was grateful to have new ways to relate to herself and others. Jane is most drawn toward a Hatha approach with focus on alignment and maintaining the integrity of joints throughout poses and traditional flows. With a background in Pilates, she brings continual focus to the importance of core strength to help create more stability through movement.
Strength and Resistance Training can be daunting, particularly if you have a busy schedule and are not comfortable tackling all that comes with a "gym". Jane works in private training space to help foster a welcoming environment. Strength training helps maintain healthy muscles and bones, prevent injury, falls, and disease; it also helps increase metabolism, lower blood sugar levels (diabetes risk) and lower dementia risk.
